Grizzly Bear Habitat
Grizzlies are found in a variety of habitats, from dense forests to sub alpine meadows and arctic tundra.
Their home range is generally between 10 and 380 square miles, and usually includes an area of forested land or shrub cover used for escape.
The current range of the Grizzly extends south from Alaska, through Western Canada, and into parts of the Northwestern United States.
British Columbia is one of the few places in the world which still has significant populations of both Black Bears and Grizzlies. However, as our population grows, we encroach on bear habitat, driving them further into ever shrinking wilderness.
